This week’s Bottomless Pit is a musical salute to a little place I call Hoboken. It’s a place with a proud and illustrious musical legacy of course, and a place that I personally am very fond of. We’ll hear from Yo La Tengo, my good friends Richard Barone and James Mastro, The Feelies, and of course the Big Cheese, the Main Man, the guy who really put Hoboken on the map, the great Frank Sinatra. And of course, much more!!!!
On this week’s Bottomless Pit I’ll be re-capping and commemorating an excellent musical and social experience that I had back on Nov. 12 at the City Winery: “The Jimi Hendrix 70th birthday celebration Hosted by Living Colour & Special Guests.” I’ll be playing selections by Jimi himself, Living Colour themselves, and by many of the other “Special Guests,” including 24-7 Spyz (I meant to write down the name that night of the the luthier who made Jimi Hazel’s green sunburst guitar, oops…), TV On The Radio, Nona Hendryx, Earl Slick, et. al. I LOVED being part of the celebration.
We’ll also hear some selections from a new CD by Gregg Turner, formerly of The Angry Samoans; he has his anger under control on this new stuff, and it’s really nice. I hope you’ll join me!
